In Karmelitská Street in the Lesser Town district of Prague stands the Church of Our Lady of Victory. It is of quite exceptional significance, not only because of its architecture and artistic decoration, but in particular because in it is preserved and venerated the famous statue of the Infant Jesus of Prague. History of the Church
Originally dedicated to the Holy Trinity, the Shrine was built by Lutherans in 1611-1613. After the Battle of the White Mountain in 1620, the Church was handed over to the Discalced Carmelites. Then the Church was dedicated to Our Lady of Victory. In 1636-1644 it acquired its present appearance with a façade facing the main street. In 1784 the monastery was closed down by the Emperor. Guide through the Church
The church is a notable hall church building of the Roman type, part Renaissance, part early baroque. It is a cultural and artistic monument of worldwide importance. Museum of the Infant Jesus
The museum is located inside the church. You go through the door to the right of the main altar and climb up a spiral staircase to the first floor. On the stairway is a series of photographs of the Child Jesus in robes in different liturgical colours. Inside the museum a series of religious objects and a part of the wardrobe of the Infant Jesus is on display.
